#149 : Moldova

This postcard received from Viorica in Moldova. She is 28 years old. I loves reading books, especially fiction.

Moldova, an Eastern European country and former Soviet republic, has varied terrain including forests, rocky hills and vineyards. Its wine regions include Nistreana, known for reds, and Codru, home to some of the world’s largest cellars. Capital Chișinău has Soviet-style architecture and the National Museum of History, exhibiting art and ethnographic collections that reflect cultural links with neighboring Romania. - wikipedia

This postcard shows The Memorial Complex "Cape Şerpeni Bridge". This memorial was erected on the right bank of the Nistru river , about 40 km east of Chisinau , in memory of the Soviet soldiers fallen during the 1944 Iasi-Chisinau operation during which the Soviet troops forced the Nistru. The Battle of Serpeni was one of the bloody events in the history of the Second World War, against the background of large-scale battles, which is only a particular episode in the war. - wikipedia
